TEPI Announces Movement Moments Grant from IGE-SRH to Support Transgender Day of Remembrance
The grant, awarded under the Sauti Safi Project, will support community-centred remembrance and advocacy for transgender and gender-diverse people in Nigeria.
The Equality Pathway Initiative (TEPI) is pleased to announce that it has been selected to receive the Movement Moments Grant, sub-granted by Initiative for Gender Equality and Sexual Reproductive Health (IGE-SRH) under the Sauti Safi Project. This support will advance TEPI’s commemoration of Transgender Day of Remembrance and strengthen its commitment to the dignity, safety and wellbeing of transgender and gender-diverse communities in Nigeria.

IGE-SRH is the sub-granting partner for this award, providing support for TEPI to translate its proposed commemoration into community engagement. In its selection notification, the IGE-SRH Project team recognised the strength and relevance of TEPI’s proposal and confirmed Transgender Day of Remembrance as the approved focus.
Through this grant, IGE-SRH is supporting TEPI’s work to create space for remembrance, solidarity and advocacy. TEPI welcomes this partnership and the opportunity it provides to bring community experiences and priorities into conversations about protection, inclusion and care.
For TEPI, remembrance carries a responsibility to act. Every person remembered had relationships, aspirations and a future they deserved to live. Honouring their lives means listening to transgender people and working towards communities where they can access support, find belonging and live without fear.
The commemoration will build on TEPI’s ongoing engagement with LGBTQI+ communities, particularly young transgender and gender-diverse people. It will offer an opportunity to honour lives lost to anti-transgender violence, strengthen solidarity and draw attention to the changes needed to protect those who continue to face violence and exclusion.
TEPI will share programme details and opportunities for participation as planning progresses. Community members, allies and organisations interested in contributing to the commemoration are welcome to connect with the team through its official channels.
We thank IGE-SRH for awarding TEPI the Movement Moments Grant under the Sauti Safi Project and for recognising the value of our proposed work. We look forward to translating this support into engagement that honours lives lost, supports the living and strengthens our collective commitment to transgender dignity.
